A little about quests, ardor and role playing / О квестах, азарте и ролевых играх.

Theatrical quests for children are a new program for Theatre33 that initiated this season. Even though the idea has been brewing for quite some time, the opportunity to bring it to fruition presented itself just recently. The quests for grownups are also cooking u

p on the back burner. You may ask, "why quests?" and "why at the theater?" The answer is simple - they represent the essence of theater - playing.

For kids, this play comes naturally since they have the innate imagination and can easily become "Masha" AND "Mermaid." They do not find it conflicting that as Mermaid, they can walk down the street and as Masha, ask to purchase something at the store. For both, young and old actors, the main lesson is the element of playing, otherwise it all resembles boredom and pathos. For the kids, this notion is organic, which is the reason that leading quests brings me so much joy. I begin the quest as a lead and then transform into a character, inviting them into the story with me. And the rest falls into place - great storyline, engaging assignments, riddles and different facts about the theme of the quest, for after all, I hope they learn something). However, as a person who really enjoys deductive games and quests, I strive to keep the types of assignments diverse so that each young sceptic can find something that engages him or her.

With adults, it is a little different. On one hand, grown ups like to dress up and assume a character, yet on the other, they are missing the creativity of kids to jumpstart their imagination and thus find it difficult to get into the role with the full passion of the play. So we involve additional cues that we typically employ in acting trainings. Very soon, likely in April, we will launch our trial grown-ups quest, "Tea Party with a murder," which would combine the idea of a quest, detective work and role playing. "In a little English village, retired ladies host a tea party for their neighbors and suddenly, all attention turns to a high-profile case..." Hope our quests will entertain young and young-at heart Sherlocks, Poirots and Marples. The theme of our upcoming quest - Art Detectives.

Совсем недавно, а именно в этом сезоне, мы стали проводить театрализованные квесты для детей. И хотя идея зародилась давно, воплотить ее удалось толь
