Пьеса Чехова о неизбежной утрате ценностей прошлого на сломе эпох написана в 1903 году, накануне первой русской революции, накануне безвременной смерти автора. Она полна жажды жизни, надежды и нежности к человеку - маленькому и одинокому в огромной вселенной. Обитатели “Вишневого сада” живут на пороге гибели их мира. Мучительно ощущают свою вину, беспомощно пытаются искать выход, смеются и плачут, влюбляются и страдают от неразделенной любви, спорят о смысле бытия и до последней секунды надеются на чудо.

Written in 1903 on the eve of the first Russian revolution, Anton Chekhov's play "The Cherry Orchard" is about the inevitable loss of the values of the past at the cusp of changing times. This was the last play Chekhov wrote on the eve of his untimely death. The play is full of thirst for life, hope and tenderness for a person, so small and lonely in the vast universe. The owners and residents of the Cherry Orchard live on the verge of the destruction of the world as they know it. They feel painfully guilty, helplessly try to find a way out, laugh and cry, fall in love and suffer from unrequited love, argue about the meaning of life and hope for a miracle until the very last second.
