Course Description
Intro to Improv: 4-Week Foundations Course with Jermaine Trice
Ready to take your creativity to the next level? Join The Improv Place and Theatre33 for an immersive, four-week journey into the world of improvisational theater. This course is designed specifically for adults (18+) who want to build a solid foundation in improv while having fun in a supportive, high-energy environment.
Led by Jermaine Trice, founder of The Improv Place and a Chicago-trained veteran of the craft, this course focuses on the "freedom of play." Whether you want to sharpen your public speaking, meet new people, or eventually perform on stage, this is where it begins.
What You’ll Learn
Over four weeks, you will dive deep into the core pillars of improv:
The Power of "Yes, And": Learn the art of radical agreement and how to build on any idea.
Character Development: Discover how to create unique, memorable characters using your voice, body, and imagination.
Scene Work: Master the mechanics of "base reality" by understanding who you are, where you are, and what you want in a scene.
Ensemble Building: Learn to listen actively and support your partners so everyone looks like a pro.
The Grand Finale: Student Showcase
Put your new skills to the test! Following our final class on April 4th, we will host a live 1-hour student showcase at 5:00 PM. Invite your friends and family to witness the spontaneous magic you’ve created!
