About The Secret Garden
Presented in English
Sometimes the most extraordinary discoveries are waiting behind a locked door.
What happens when a family that has always lived together gradually loses the ability to understand one another?
After losing his job, a father and his two teenage daughters are forced to move into an ordinary roadside motel. Struggling with depression and his own sense of failure, he becomes increasingly distant from his children, while the girls try to adjust to their new reality — and to a father who seems to have shut himself away from the world.
Their summer unfolds beside the motel swimming pool, closed for repairs. There, the sisters encounter an unexpected collection of people — the motel manager, the daughter of a visiting cleaner, and an energetic, cheerful housekeeper. Through these new relationships, they gradually begin to see themselves, each other, and their father differently.
Inspired by Frances Hodgson Burnett's beloved novel The Secret Garden, this original adaptation moves the story from an English manor at the beginning of the 20th century to modern-day America, transforming the familiar tale into a contemporary exploration of family, loneliness, and rebuilding lost connections.
Here, the “secret garden” isn't simply a place hidden behind a locked door. It becomes a metaphor for the parts of ourselves we keep closed off — and the walls we sometimes build around ourselves even with the best intentions.
A warm and moving story about parents and children, growing up, hope, and finding a way back to one another.
