Здесь нет революционеров и нет преступления главы семейства. В центре истории — Васса, мать, которая всеми доступными ей средствами борется за будущее своих детей и благополучие семьи. Она готова хитрить, лгать, манипулировать и плести интриги — лишь бы сохранить контроль над миром, который она так тщательно выстроила.

Но где проходит граница между заботой и властью? Может ли жесткий контроль действительно защитить семью — и способен ли он принести счастье?

Спустя более ста лет эти вопросы звучат не менее остро. В постановке Театра33 действие пьесы Горького переносится в современный мир корпораций, бизнеса и борьбы за власть, где семья и деловые интересы оказываются неразрывно связаны.

A play about family.

It is no coincidence that Maxim Gorky wrote in 1910 that, above all, he had created a play about a mother.

There are no revolutionaries at the center of this story and no crime committed by the head of the household. Instead, there is Vassa — a mother determined to secure her children's future and protect the family she has built. She is willing to scheme, deceive, manipulate, and maneuver if that is what it takes to maintain control over their lives and their prosperity.

But where does protection end and control begin? Can holding a family together at any cost actually make that family happy?

More than a century after the play was written, those questions remain strikingly relevant. Theatre33's production reimagines Gorky's story within the contemporary world of corporations, business, and executive power, where family relationships and professional ambitions become dangerously intertwined.
