About Theatre Chameleon

We are an oldest Russian-speaking community theater in PNW and our mission was always to bring the classical theater to the American and Russian-speaking public.

How did your company start, and what inspires the work you do?

The "Chameleon" Theater was founded by a group of enthusiasts in 2005 in the city of Seattle. Before that, there were no Russian-language theaters in the PNW and the number of Russian-speaking residents was quite small. And why "Chameleon" do you ask? It's quite simple! First of all, it's a tribute to our beloved Anton Pavlovich Chekhov and his short story "Chameleon." And of course, the chameleon is a unique creature that can not only change its color but also look in different directions. After all, that’s the essence of theater—to show a different perspective.

What kind of theater do you specialize in?

Classical

What show are you bringing to the festival, and why did you choose it?

We are bringing our own rendition of Old Saybrook by Woody Allen which we chosen because we love the author and it speaks to regular people about regular problems.

We wanted to get Brad Pitt for main role, but he unexpectedly refused the honor

What are you most looking forward to about participating in the festival?

To meet other participants who are as crazy about theater as we are and to share the ideas.

Why do you think theater festivals are important for the arts community?

It's not only the festival, since the ancient Greeks, theater is extremely important in the arts community.

If someone has never seen your company’s work before, what should they know about you?

That we exist, that we have been doing it for the past 20 years, and that all our actors are just regular people with regular jobs.

Where can people follow your work after the festival?

On our site there is a Youtube and Instagram where we can be followed.
