At 18 years old, Irene brings versatility and depth to Theatre33’s production of The Little Prince, taking on the roles of the Aviator, Businessman, and Switchman. Having been with Theatre33 for the past couple of years, Irene loves the collaborative spirit of theatre and the opportunity to explore multiple characters within a single story. As the cast prepares to represent Theatre33 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, we sat down with Irene to learn more about her journey, her favorite moments in the show, and what she’s most excited to experience in Scotland.
A Conversation with Irene
Tell us a little about yourself.
Outside of theatre, I enjoy spending time with friends, writing short film scripts, and going on hikes.
How long have you been involved with Theatre33?
I’ve been with Theatre33 for about 1–2 years.
Who do you play in The Little Prince?
I play the Aviator, Businessman, and Switchman.
What is your favorite thing about performing?
My favorite thing about performing is the ensemble-building we do during rehearsals. It really helps bring the whole show together and creates a strong bond with my castmates.
What is one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
Despite my love for the arts, I hope to pursue a career in the medical field in the future.
What do you love most about your character?
Since I play multiple characters, I love the versatility that gives me. It allows me to explore my range as an actor and dig deeper into bringing each character to life.
What has been the biggest challenge in preparing for this role?
The biggest challenge has been developing each character’s relationships with the other characters and making each one feel distinct.
Do you have a favorite scene in the show?
My favorite scene is when the Little Prince tames the Fox. It’s a very sweet and sincere moment that’s an important turning point in the Little Prince’s journey.
If you could describe The Little Prince in three words, what would they be?
Brave. Resilient. Understanding.
How does performing make you feel?
Free.

Its bilingual culture.
How do you feel about performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe?
I am very excited to perform at the biggest theatre festival in the world. It’s an honor to share a show we’ve worked so hard on with audiences from around the world.
What are you most excited about for the trip?
Seeing other performances at the Fringe.
Have you traveled internationally before?
Yes! I’ve visited Italy, Greece, Cyprus, and Russia.
What do you hope to learn or experience at Fringe?
I hope to learn more about different acting techniques from around the world and discover new methods that I can incorporate into my own work.
What are you most looking forward to seeing or doing in Scotland?
I’m excited to admire the architecture and try some of the local food.
When you think about Edinburgh, what do you imagine?
Beautiful scenery.
What do you hope audiences remember about The Little Prince?
The impactful story.
If someone is thinking about coming to see The Little Prince, what would you tell them?
“You should come see The Little Prince because it will be a very fun experience!”
